I can't wait to read your book. I was 13 yars old on the day of your escape 7-9-1965 and I recall the heroic efforts of all of our soldiers in Viet Nam especially the Special Forces.

Ike, It was good to see you again. When I served under you in the 70's I was awestruck from your ordeal, and never questioned you about it. Your book is answering all my question. Glad you wrote it! Your faith, tennacity, and can do attitude is the definition of American. I will treasure my autographed copy. Thank You for showing us how. God Bless

Issac you may not remember me but, I met you through your cousin Rey 'M0' Morales. I remember once over some beers I suggested that writing a book about your experiences would be great but your were quite reluctant. I am glad you finally changed your mind and I look forward to reading your book. God Bless America.

Ike, reading your story was like riding an emotional roller coaster. It took me back memory lane to our high school days and our early Army years in the 11th and 82d Airborne Divisions. Little did we know then how the Vietnam War would impact our military adventure and beyond.
Your heroic actions in Hiep Hoa, your ghastly ordeal as a POW, and your remarkable escape and evasion almost 2 years later attest to your courage and perseverance against all odds. You are an inspiration to all of us.
It is difficult to adequately put into words how proud I am of you and how I value our friendship over the years.
Kudos to Billy Waugh for finally convincing you to chronicle your saga, and then doing so in such a superb and ingenious way.
Maria joins me in wishing you and Gracie nothing less than true happiness and the best of health. Tu amigo siempre, Johnny.

My son and I really enjoyed reading your book. We were both very impressed with your courageous actions. It made me very proud to consider you a friend. I'm sure my brother, Chito, would have been equally as proud. Thank God for your strong faith and resolve.

What can I say. You and Gracie have been good friends to my wife and I and to our Mariachi group "Los Arrieros." You are quite unassuming...typical hero. But the word is out. From now on everyone in El Paso will consider you their hero.

Ike: I thoroughly enjoyed your book. When you and I met that July, 65 day in Minh Tanh village I was soon convinced god had smiled on an extraordinary and deserving person. I'm honored to have known you all these years.

Isaac, It was a humbling experience just to shake your hand and have my picture taken with such a brave soldier. I am specially proud that we both graduated from the same high school and now with your permission, our friendship is my claim to fame. con/safo
